Just got a kobalt toolbox for christmas. Its the type that goes across the rails, I don't really want to drill my bed and supposivly there are clamps for this application. Has anyone used these? and do you like the clamps?

According to the instructions, I'm only supposed use one anchor point per side otherwise the lid for the box will bind when the bed flexes, thus voiding the warranty. I'd feel more comfortable with two anchor points per side since I do go off-roading from time to time. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, the toolbox will be above the stock in bed tie downs. I do have some after market rail tie downs that clamp on the rail, but if there are any other ideas you guys have, throw them out there.

Sorry such a long post.
Thanks in advance,
Matt

I'd stop by a store that sells tool boxes for
pickups, calikota.

I've seen systems just what you have in mind.

Good luck

A friend of mine has a threaded hook. I'm not sure where he got it at but he uses it to hold the tool box in his ranger.

The hook stick up though a hole in the tool box and bolts down. The hook end is under the side of the bed rail.

The only requires a couple of holes in the toolbox.

Thanks guys,
I went to lowes where they picked up my box and found those clamping brackets and they work good; nice and solid.
As for the tie downs I went ahead and used two lengths of chain that will be permanently attached to the factory tie downs so I wont have to lay down to use them.
Now I'm thinking about mounting my hi-lift to the box; is diamond plate easy to drill? It would have to be a weather proof application and lockable.
