 Subject: PVC hissing sound?

Have a quick question concerning a weird noise that has developed. When I have my dak under slight acceleration I hear a hissing sound coming from someplace in my engine compartment or firewall. The noise is not present during idle nor under full acceleration. The best way I can desribe it would be to compare it to a severe vacume leak. I have no change in idle or in hesitation at start up like a vacume leak would cause. It has been getting progressivly louder for some weeks now. I went into Advanced Auto and found out they do not stock a PCV value for my dak (2002 Quad Cab Sport 4x4, 4.7L). This noise is driving me crazy, does anyone have any thoughs?
