Subject: Bump Steer IP: Logged
Message: I have a 04 Dakota Quad Cab 2WD. The truck seems to have an excessive amount of bump steer from road irregularities. I purchased the truck used with P285 Goodyear Eagle tires on it. Replaced ball joints right away. Tie rods seems good. Could the tires be causing the excessive bump steer or is this typical of Dakota truck handling?

Message: seem good and are good are not necessarily the same thing. take it to a good shop and have them check the alignment. my 2000 durango had the same problem and turned out to be bad inner tie rods.

Message: What is the correct way of checking the inner tie-rods? A firm wiggle does not produce any play on my tie-rods.

Message: As intensedak indicated, the correct way to check the inner tie-rods is to take it to a good shop.
