Subject: rear diff problems ?
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 2000 dakota QC 4.7 4x4 with LSD. Everytime I turn a corner I get a clunking sound from the rear of the truck. In trying to fix the problem I have replaced rear stabilizer bushings, links and shocks. The problem did not go away at all. When I turn the corner one way it will clunk, but will not clunk again until I turn the other way. With the truck jacked up I can pull/push on the tire and there is some play in there. Could this be the problem, or is this normal? Any suggestions would be appreciated, Thanks.

Have you ever serviced the rear differential fluid? This should be done every couple of years.

If not you may have damaged the LSD.
