I need to replace my transfer case - the manual (Haynes) tells me nv233 or nv244. I check the plate on the exisitng one and I can't find 233 or 244. The plate states the model is 23 d and the gear ratio is 272 - does that mean it should be an NV272?? Please help.

Message: Shawn, I'm not sure which one you have, but if it has the dash switch I think it would be the 244, as for the ratio, the 2.72 means its the LOW range gear ratio. If you have a manual shifter for the transfer case, then you would have the 231 I would think not a 233, but I don't have anything that new so I could be wrong.
I hope that helps some.
Good Luck

Message: Both TC are electronic. The NV233 is a part-time case 2hi/4lo/4hi and the NV244 is full-time with no 2-wheel only AWD/4lo/4hi. Hope that helps. CC
