Message: I think I messed up my torque converter. I pretty much floored
it not thinking of what I was doing because I had to get out of
the way of this guy in a celica or something, and then this pop
sound happened near the transmission. Thought it was just
some axle hop. Today, I was on a hill and I gave it a little more
gas than normal, and it made this grinding sound as if the
clutch or something is grinding on something or the other. The
transmission seems to be fine and working, nothing abnormal
with it, it's just when I give it a good push from a dead stop a
grinding sound happens, stops, and then it's all normal after
that. (not that I always slam the pedal, but I didn't think doing it
once would kill the damn thing)
Do you think I messed up the torque converter? And it's
probably real expensive I assume? Thanks.

Message: Drop your transmission pan and see if you have and shavings or parts laying in it. I doubt its the torque converter.

Message: Well, the torque converter has always made this thunk noise lately.
The transmission and its gears are working fine with no noise. The
grinding noise only happens when I give it abrupt gas and on a hill
or something. When I just slowly/ regularly give it gas, it's all
normal. That's what made me think that it wasn't the transmission
and just the torque converter.
But I dunno.
