Message: Can anyone help diagnos my idle/fuel system issue? I own a 1997 5.2L dakota. Occasionally when my truck sits for say eight hours, it will start fine and I can rev the engine as normal, but the engine will not hold an idle. I'll give it gas for a few and the problem goes away, and thoughout the day the truck acts normal. No codes have been thrown. It seems as though there is as clog that loosens as the truck warms.

Message: have you had the battery load tested? this is a classic symptom of a battery that is on the way out. enough power to start the truck but voltage is low enough for the PCM to "forget" idle memory set and have to re-learn it after the truck is started from an overnight rest. i have experienced this exact thing.

Message: Lately we've had alot of rain and my battery terminals have become increasingly corroded. Every now and then I had to aggitate the cable and teminal to create a better connection. I noticed a coincidence but couldn't make the link between the two. I bet what you say is the problem, not a bad battery, just a bad connection. Thanks a bunch.
