How do you explain the record profits of the oil companies?
How do you explain the government not reducing tax on gasoline to help offset the gouged prices?
G.W. Bush recently admitted on T.V. that the oil companies are gouging the prices.
How do you explain refineries affected by hurricanes in past decades not affecting gas prices?
The world is under attack by means of crookedly prices oil prices on industrialized nations that rely on oil.
Doomsday devvice:
1. Gain monopoly on oil.
2. Quadruple oil prices.
3. Industrialized nations brought to their knees and thus you aquire total power over them.
......4.,
You find out one day that this total inconsideration for humanity results in a hollocaust nightmare, with the oil monopolizer and those involved in it with them at the center of it! (This hasn't happened yet, but has already started).
It also includes all the abuse of capitalism such as underpaying workers because you can take advantage of them, charging high prices for low quality goods and services because you have the monopoly on them and can do it, overpaying people that are not entitled to it because they did not earn it, etc. The more Americans that take what they did not earn and are not entitled to, the more the government just prints money that it really doesn't have because it is in debt, to bail out corporations that have no money it really doesn't have, the more America runs it's society on make believe money where that can have as much money as they can print instead of earning it,
The more the dollar will become worthless and the recent news on Wall Street will be nothing compared to the SHlT the USA is getting itself into with all this greed and abuse of the financial system. Be warned.

Message: Its libs like you that lead to this. Libs that blocked nuk powerplants for 30 years. Libs that blocked pipelines to the east for natural gas for forty years. The east still heats with fuel oil! How stupid. We are burning record amounts of fuel-record profits for the supplers. But supplies are tight-we are importing 15% of our gasoline to meet demand-Not enough refinnerys due to libs. Not reducing gas tax? Mcain wanted it-libs didn,t.(obama wanted to give you a tire gauge). Gouging? thousands of libs have dug and dug and never found anything to go to court with. NEVER(thirty year dumbass). And remember that India and china now has a great demand on the world supply. We need to drill for our own. so?You got it! the libs say no! Need gas? The libs have a huge amount..And on top of it all-Cal.-libland-who won,t allow offshore drilling wants the whole country to bail them out!!! STS, you are to blame...

Record amounts of burning fuel would indeed produce more profits for the oil companies, but the price of the oil would not increase from higher sales....it would in fact bring the price DOWN!
Prices go DOWN when sales are higher.
Yes the government has restrictions on telling business what they can't do, but when it is destroying the economy and threatening a huge hollocaust when the economy collapses it's different.
Ronald Regan in the 1980s firing all the flight controllers on strike because the airline industry being at a standstill was threatening the nation's economy.
All the liberals cannot say a thing until the day they are poor and have to survive the oil prices. Then lets hear what the liberals have to say. The average American who is poor is the only unbiased voice on the issue.

Wow, that is just brilliant. NOT! Other than the fact you have nothing to back that, it is absurd. Then again, maybe you are only making $5/hr.
Using your rediculous logic we should also expect to be able to buy a new Dodge Challenger for about $6000. That's what it was when gas was $1.25. Of course we all know that you are going to pay at least five times that price but gas is no where near that.
YOU LIBERALS AWAYS WANT SOMETHING FOR NOTHING.

Nothing to back that? Look up the prices of things in 1998, then what pay scales were then, compared to now.
Reality is everpresent, but you sound like you don't live there. Tell the white rabbit I said hi.
Stating fact is not rediculous logic. Denying facts as you are is. It gets countries blown up out of ignorance and pretending things aren't dangerous when they are.
No wonder 9/11 was able to get carried out. America likes pretending everything is fine when their country is crumbling. That is the real scary part. America is sure to go down if every American was in that much denial.
I suppose AIG is doing better than it ever was, and Enron is the best bet on the stock market.
as a politician, and your evident hero once said,
"the USA economy is strong and doing great and no one can argue with that".

Refineries are not being built because the oil companies don't want them, not because of liberals blocking them. Refinery capacity at existing refineries is cheaper for them, and has grown since 1996. But they are most economical when they run over 90% efficiency. Oil companies have NO interest in selling you cheap energy, or in buying domestic energy. It's all about the highest profit margin, period.
I live in the Northeast and I heat with natural gas. Many people here do. Study the fact before you speak.

Message: Just because 1998 gas prices were at 1980 levels doesn't make it proportionally relevant to 1998 wages.
Did you sit and wonder why you weren't getting 1980 wages? Of course you didn't. It is far more practical to compare wages to the price of housing or big ticket items like cars. Almost everything has gone up more than gas over the past four decades.
Cherry picking gas prices and comparing them to wages is best left up to the talking heads that have morons for listeners.
I guess you can't expect a liberal to think for himself.
Cheap gas is not a constitutional right.

Message: Bob Linclon, you didn't go back far enough. In Connecticut everything is double the price it was in 1998, but typical light industrial pay was $7 per hour (net, of course, the only number you can use is what you really get in your hand), now it is $9 per hour net.
Do the math. Prices are double, but pay did not go from $7 per hour to $14 per hour.
THAT IS WHY THE U.S. ECONOMY IS COLLAPSING.

Message: To wow, show me some statistics that prove that the demand for oil stayed the same all through the 1990s when gas was about $1 per gallon, and then the demand quadrupled all of a sudden over the last 6 years. I don't think humans could reproduce that fast!
Your theory doesn't hold up under the population growth curve over the past 6 years.
BTW, gas was not $1.10 per gallon in 2002. It was in the $2's then. The last time it was in the 1s was in 1999.
The oil companies tried to gouge prices in 1997 but when the government investigated it, all of a sudden they went back down. Now the gov has been paid off or something, and the oil corps are destroying the world economy with evil.

| Why is gas so cheap? IP: Logged
Message: In 1970 gas was .34/gal and oil was $3/bbl.
$3/.34=8.8235
With oil sitting at $100 or more gas is a mere $3/gal.
$100/$3= 33.3333
There must be conspiracy to keep gas prices so cheap. Eventually artificially low prices will ruin the economy because they always have a way of catching up.
