Message: 2001 dodge Dakota... The pass floor pan is getting soaked from the AC dripping on it. There is some water dripping out of the drain on the firewall when I'm not moving, or when I have it on the hoist changing the oil-drips on my head, however, not enough is dripping out. I shoved a piece of wire in the hole and fished around... I'm pretty certain the hole is clear.
From the location of the hole.... Looks like a piece of gray PVC coming out of the firewall about halfway up on the pass side of the firewall...it looks like possibly the air is pushing the water back in when I'm going down the road. Does this happen? Should there be another piece of tubing that comes off the piece in the firewall?
Any ideas on how I can fix this would be helpful.

Message: I sealed around the drain tube on my 02 4.7 on engine side of firewall. It is not easy, but it can be done. Has not leaked in 4 years. There is a cover over the tube that has to come off first.I used a putty like sealer that I could put on with my fingers.

Message: I seem to remember a TSB on this. It said to put putty around the drain tube opening in the firewall. And I think there is another one about how the drain tube in the Dakota points straight out so at highway speeds the condensate can not drain out and eventually causes a leak. Dodge's fix is to put a right angle shaped hose over the end of the drain tube pointing down so it will drain out at whatever speed you drive. Dealer may have the right angle piece of hose or maybe you could find one at a parts store that might work.
How is the AC? It could be the evaporator is leaking. Suspect it if the AC has a bad smell or it starts out cold but gets warm after being on for a short time. www.aircondition.com has really good info and forums on automotive AC problems.

Message: Ahhh so I'm not so crazy after all. It is blowing back in. My thought was to run a rubber hose down along side of the firewall all the way under the cab about 6 or 8 inch. The idea was that the vacuum created by the air blowing under the cab would suck through the hose. So it would be like having a wet vac hooked to the motha. My design of this was to be like beer sucking out of the top of a beer can in a speed boat running wide open-hate it when that happens.
The AC works perfect. I can't smell so I can't tell ya if there is a problem there, however none of my passengers have had anything to say of it. Most of my passengers are women so I am sure if there was a small I would have heard mention of it in the form of her bitching at me, haha. Damn women!
It only takes moments for the air to blow cold once I hit the AC button, so I'm pretty sure were good there.
I guess tomorrow I am gonna run and get some rubber hose and see if I can create some vacuum.

Message: Sorry I can't be much more help on your leaky AC but if you need a guy to help carry around a few of your women I'll be the first to volunteer..
You might want to stop by or call a Dodge or Chrysler dealer about the little right angled piece of hose. It may very well help your leak.
