Yeah, yeah, yeah.....so I have finaly given in and posted a "killed" story. Thats right I said killed, not kill. I was on my home with a freind when we pulled up to a light, this guy who loooked about 45 or so was in his 2 door Saturn coupe and was blasting what sounded like heavy metal. I was in an obnoxious mood so I turned my country music up to block out his. When the light turned green, it seemed like he jumped out there a little so I jsut stayed even and it wasnt a race really, just me messin with him but there was definantly some hostility there. So at the next light, I expected a race. The light went green and I leaped out there in my 93 4x4 with 318 and auto. When I saw he wasnt playing my game I let off the gas a bit only to see him coming up my side in a hurry so I punched it a little. As soon as he got up next to me, I heard is little motor start screaming all of a sudden and he pulled away from me kind of quickly as my tired 318 took its sweet time to get up there. It seemed like it took forever for the RPM's to climb. Oh well, it wasnt the first time I have been beat by a smaller engine.

Yeah, he probably had 4 turbos and a 200 shot! Uh, yeah, that's the ticket, he had stickers all over too! Don't feel bad, you would have got him off the line in 2nd. Win some loose some.

Thats what I am all about here is honesty. I dont feel all that bad. Ever since I got my 31" tires I have decided to go more in the direction of offroading rather than street racing. Besides, if I wanted to race all the time, I wouldnt have gotten a 4x4. Sometimes its just fun to see what they got.

Andrew,
You would have been able to get in front of him and cut over had you both started off-the-line with your torquey 5.2. It's the high-end that kills us. I've noticed that I am just as fast or faster than many vehicles when it's off-the-line and to the next light in my 4.7 3.92 auto. It's when we start at 40mph or higher that I am struggling.
Don't sweat it over the plastic toy car. I used to own a saturn twin-cam coupe. It was a POS and would never be able to beat our daks in a clean race.
