Subject: Gas gauge ground problem? IP: Logged
Message: When I used to be afford a full tank of gas the gauge would hang below empty until approximately the half full level when it starts working correctly. When full the needle will fluctuate when the turn signal is on. Since this is a poly tank (95 club cab) do I need to look at the ground to the tank or the instrument panel?

Message: No - problem is the 'sender' inside the tank
on the side of the fuel pump assembly .
Only way to fix is to replace , not sure if you could find a source for just the sender .
Otherwise , about $ 150.oo for the assembly.

Message: There was a guy just a couple of days ago said he was able to find just the fuel gauge sending unit. Much cheaper than the hole fuel pump.
Said he just looked on the internet and found it.
Good Luck

Message: If you're handy you can repair the sender, I have had the same problem even with a NEW pump. you need to put more tension on the slider on the sender unit. It's a pain to take the tank off just to do that.....
