Subject: *HELP! Considering Dakota for Towing...
IP: Logged

Message:
I'm not a meachanical person, and have not towed anything before...but we recently purchased small trailer 20' with a Dry Weight of 3400 lbs. We are considering purchasing a 2002 2wd V8 4.7 Ltr Dakota with a Quad Cab. It comes with a towing package and I'm sure the engine in sufficient for towing, but I have been told that there is a problem in that the Dakotas suffer from a week rear axyl? that may not be suitable for this weight? Can someone please let me know if this is true?? Thanks!!!

See my answer to your question in the v8 forum - where 15 minutes after you posted this question, the truck you are considering somehow got a year newer, while the trailer shrunk a foot. Same weight though, and same answer.
