 Subject: 1989 dodge dekota sport problems

Well i just bought this truck used and so far it has these problems when you shift to reverse the truck lurches real hard backwards (have the break on but i can still feel the jerk) and my maintnence light is on and my check engine.. i put a quart of oil in it, but my oil gauge is broke (went by the stick) also the ac makes noise but doesn't do anything.. the radio and cig lighter show no signs of power.. also when i'm driving around the time the check engine light comes on it'll get real hot around my feet. Please advise

You have more problems than you want to deal with. If you're decent with wiring you'll figure out what fuses are blown and why they blew-easy cheep fix.
As for the rest-could be as simple as an exhaust leak, maybe you have a cracked head.
Consider it's an 89 and how much you gave for it. Probably not worth fixing. If I were you I would consider parting it out.
