Is anybody still interested in doing this swap? We are just finishing one up, (1996 5.9 in a 1989 Regular Cab Short bed) and can give a good description of what we did, it was all a bolt-in, using stock parts except for the intake manifold, headers and added a cooling fan. We used a Summit aluminum air gap intake. This thing flies!

I'm sure it flies and a few years even I at 61
years old would have wanted one. With todays
prices for gas even the V6's are a hard sell.

I ought to know.. I've been trying to sell my
02 with the 4.7 V8 at a price WAY under blue book
and can't even get a bite.

I even tried to sell it outright to a car lot and
was turned away.

The day of the V8's are gone forever, sad to say.

RadioMan, you are probably spot-on with your statement.

Perhaps the days when they were very common - but v8s will remain atractive for those who truly apreciate perfomance; or need the power because they are legitimately working their trucks. A v6 or less would not meet my towing needs.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way

What does the swap require? Engine
transmission and wiring harness and
computer. Or do I need to upgrade the
fuel system.

Gerrick "Kowalski" thats not so any more. As a matter of fact there are V6's that produce over 300 HP and over 300 ftbls toruqe. I feel for you RadioMan. But the EcoBoost from Ford has pretty much raised the bar on what preformance really is. Too bad you have to take a drive to the Ford dealership to enjoy a engine with great fuel economy and V8 performance.
