Subject: What tool do I need? IP: Logged
Message: To remove the differential pinion shaft lockscrew in my rear end? I'm not sure, but it looks like it has 8 points...maybe more. Roughly a quarter inch in diameter. Socket or wrench. But what's it called and where od I find it?
Thanks!

It sounds like a Torx star socket. A Hex key wrench will strip it. You need a star wrench. It could be metric.

Message: You may want to get the socket kind as you can get more torque behind it. Sometimes those can be a little hard to break loose with a little hand set. You will need the hand kind too for working under the hood where you can't get to it with a socket.
A lot of the bolts/screws on Dodge are torx. A good set will come in handy over the time you own your dodge.
craftsman sells them. Harbor frieght does as well. Your local auto parts store may carry them as well.
