Subject: P0300,P0304,P0308 Codes IP: Logged
Message: 2000 4.7 5 speed manual.
I've had these codes popping up for the last 6 months. Engine mis-fire, cyl 4 and cyl 8. I can clear them with my scanner but a couple of days later they're back.
In the spring I thought a plug change would fix it as it was due. Nope they came back.
Then I tried swapping coils 4 and 6 thinking if it was the coil I should now see P0306. Nope. P0304 and P0308 with occasional P0300.
Recently I was using a Scan Gauge 2 and when the PCM switched from open loop to closed loop the CEL came on. Sure enough P0304 and P0308.
I've looked at the wiring and it looks OK.
I tried dielectric grease on the coil connectors as well.
Has anyone else with a 4.7 5 speed had this issue?

Message: I worked on a friend's Ford Ranger V6 when its CEL came on. The code was Cylinder #1 misfire. The truck also acted like it was only running on 5 cylinders. I tried spark plugs, wires, etc. with no luck. We then checked the resistance on the fuel injector for that cylinder. It was OPEN. Replaced the fuel injector (~$70), cleared the code, and all was well. See what the spec is for your fuel injectors, then measure all of them to see what you get. Something to try!

Are 4.7 injectors low impedance or high?
I'm at work and my FSM is at home.

Haven't checked mine yet.

Message: Cyl 4 = 15.6 ohms @ 80 degF
Cyl 8 = 14.6 ohms @ 80 degF
Cyl 6 = 15.6 ohms @ 80 degF
Added dielectric grease when the connectors were reinstalled.
As cyl 6 is the same as cyl 4 I dont think the misfire CEL is caused by the injectors.
Problem still persists.
