Subject: R/T running on propane LPG IP: Logged
Message: I want to convert my 2000 r/t with 65,000 miles on it to run off propane from a tank mounted in the bed but I can not find any info for converting later models to propane.
Anyone know where i can find info and how much it cost?
Propane is about $2.00 a gallon here where i live and I dont think it is going to go up much unlike the gasoline that is $4.60 a gallon now and gong up every day, Ive been obsesed with this idea for a couple months now, I love my r/t but i dont want to have to park it and get a 4 cylinder like my dumb brother is allways telling me to.....

Message: I did a quick search, but didn't come up with any conversion kits for cars or trucks. I would call the local LP dealer in your area and see if has any suggestions.

Message: Another Gotcha! Maybe someone is working on it, but I have yet to see a propane conversion kit for a fuel-injected engine, just carbs.

Message: Here in Canada there are conversions available for LP and CNG. I have a 2000 4.7 that is a dual fuel gasoline/CNG.
Eco Fuel Systems made the natural gas kit that I have. They have a web site. They do both LP and CNG.
My system has it's own computer that ties in with the PCM for sensor inputs and then it runs another set of 8 natural gas injectors that are plumbed to the intake manifold.
I refuel at home for about $0.35/liter using a home refueling appliance that I lease from my local gas utility.
Currently I have 278000 kilometers an my truck and it runs well on natural gas.
Hope this helps.

Message: What is the name of their website? Do they have conversion kits for other engines like a 318 or 360? What is the cost of the conversion and what is your mileage and power like on propane?
