Message: Not to be a smarta!s, where your eyes crossed LOL... I would check codes again maybe its throwing P0499 which is your Evaporative emission system, vent control circuit. Your wiring is short to positive and problem in EVAP valve. Take it back to dealer should be covered under FEDERAL Emmision 8/80,000 miles warranty let them fix it for you will save you a headache and let you see straight again just a laugh that we do so much at this website to each other..

Message: Yaeh... P0499. It's no longer under warranty, plus I bought it used/as is, and I want to fix it myself. Going to a dealer is the last thing i want to do. Only had the truck for a couple weeks now and are still learning the systems. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what components would be involved.

Message: I don't have a P0499 listed on my chart.
My chart goes from P0463 then jumps to P0500.
Try resetting the entire system and see if the
error returns.

Message: P0499 Evaporative Emission System Vent Valve Control Circuit High
AlexG, as Kowalski stated, if you're under 80k miles, it should be covered by the Federal emissions Warranty. looks like you may have a problem with that vent valve. i don't have a manual for your year so that is all i can give you for now.

Message: I baught it when it had 83000 miles. There seems to be a valve between the charcoal canister and intake manifold by the battery and another on the frame right by the canister between that and the fuel tank. I'll test those out and see what i figure out.
