Subject: Leaking red fluid and losing power IP: Logged
Message: So my check engine light came on today and the truck has lost alot of power. It needs alot of gas just to get moving. When i took it home i noticed a red fluid on the ground. Can anyone tell me what this might be or do i have to spend 70 dollars to take it to the dealership?

Message: Red fluid should be either power steering fliud or most likely transmission fluid if u have an automatic
Also ive seen some longlife anti freeze coolant being red but it would have to be really thin and it would have an almost sweet smell to it
Most likely transmission fluid

Message: i second that opinion. you may want to crawl under your truck to see if you can spot where the fluid is coming from. definitely, before you drive it any further, check the fluid level in the trans. you could severely damage it driving it low on fluid.

Message: the fact that you ned mor gas to get moving means th tranny is the probleem. I would say the red is trans fluid. You cvould just be low on fluid.
