Subject: HELP asap!! HVAC Controls are bad?!?! IP: Logged
Message: Well the deal is, whenever I turn on my heat, it always blows out of the defrosters. no matter what I switch it to, it doesnt change. its not coming out of the front of the dash and not coming out on the floor. the top switch works fine which controls how hard it comes out.
i tried a new HVAC panel but it didnt work.
Its a 1998 Sport V6 btw.
Thanks

Message: the vents are controlled by a series of vacuum hoses that run off of engine vacuum. either a hose got disconnected or punctured.

Message: I stole this from another recent post
The actuators that control airflow and temperature are vacuum driven. When you lose vacuum to the controls, the default is the windshield defrost position. So if all you get is air out the defrost ports and nowhere else, look for a vacuum leak.
