Message: Hi fellow Dak owners!
Long-time reader, first-time poster...
Can anyone with first-hand (or second-hand for that matter) experience tell me what is the "largest" tire size that will mount up to a GenII without any type of lift? I acquired a set (4 plus spare) of new 15x8 (aluminum) takeoffs from a 2001 Dakota at a state vehicle auction and would like to utilize them if they are an acceptable alternative(I was told the bolt patterns are identical). Would other wheel sizes permit a larger tire size (again, without any type of lift) on my 1992 4x4? I currently have the 15x6(?) factory aluminums with 235/75R15 Wrangler RT/S and wish to go to something at least wider. Also, any recommendations for tire brand with appropriate reasoning will be welcomed.
Thanks for any guidance/advice you can provide!
By the way, was that a Dodge I saw in the winner's circle at Charlotte today? Way to go Sterling!

Message: the stock size on the 15x8's for the 4x4's were 31x10.5
i've seen up to 32's with no problems on the Gen III's, but i don't know about the older Daks...
hope this helps.

Message: Are you sure they are 15x8's? because 2000 was the last year for 15x8's. They are either 16x8's or 15x7's or they are not the factory original on the 2001. If they are the 15x7's then the 31x10.50's would probably be as big a tire that would fit the rim, but I don't think they will fit on a stock Gen II 4x4 anyway.

Message: First off, thanks for replying.
I have done a little more investigation. By my measurement they are in fact 15x8 with a 5.5" offset. They may very well be off of a '00 or perhaps even a '99 model - one of them has a date stamp of 13APR99 on it (my thought is that since these were on a vehicle bought by the city, they could have been on anything what with low bids and all...still trying to figure out why they would replace them with something else!!?!). I also measured the bolt pattern and it matches the 6x4.5 pattern on my GenII. Any more thoughts?
