Message: Was thinking about putting one in since my stock fan clutch is about to go south. Can anyone suggest a decent one for a 93 4x4 auto with a/c? Does it make a difference what the temp is outside with an electrical fan when it come to performance? How easy is the install?

Message: I tried several, the only one that I would recommend is the Flex-a-lite Black Magic 150. It has everything built in and is the only one capable of cooling a V8.

Message: I have a Black Magic 150 on my 97 5.2 4x4. The setup does free up quite a bit of power, but depending on how hot it is where you live it might not be enough to keep your truck cool. I live in Phoenix and when driving in stop ang go traffic in the summer heat with the air on my truck will heat up. Driving without the air it normally runs quite cool (I also have a 180 thermostat)but I have heated it up driving in deep sand for an extended period while really getting on it. I want to try to find a twin fan setup that will fit our radiators and move sufficient air, but havent seen one yet.
hope this helps

Message: What size engine do you have? A black magic has no problem cooling a V6, but it is tougher for a V8. Another factor is the condition of your radiator.
I am likely going to add a small fan between my radiator and a/c condenser for additional cooling for the Atlanta summers. Even if I just put the clutch fan back on for summertime, it is worth the torque and gas mileage that the fan gives me in cooler months.
Good luck,

Message: Pretty easy, kinda clamps to the top and bottom of your radiator then follow the directions for the electrical hookups..an hour or two.

Message: Donate the old one to the scrap heap, you take a lot of weight off your engine and water pump shaft. You will see a definite increase in torque and I get about 2 more miles per gallon.

Message: I tried the Perma-cool, sent it back to Summit, traded for the Black Magic. Mine was the 16 inch high performance...no match for the 15 inch Black Magic.

Message: Use #150 for any Dakota up through a 5.2, if you have a V6, you will have NO problems. Summit rated the Perma-Cool at 2900 cfm, but when I got it, it said 2100-2950 cfm. I found out the hard way that 2100 more more like the truth. The Black Magic moves 2800, BIG difference.
