Subject: Seafoam in oil and Driving around Safe? IP: Logged
Message: I getting close to my next oil change and would like to finally put some seafoam in the engine oil and clean out the crank case. But im not sure if i should just put it in just before the oil change and let it idle for 15 mins or put it in 300Miles before the oil change.
Right now im running Castrol syth. oil and it says i can add it to syth oil but i dont know for sure if it safe to drive with it in the pan.
Anyone done this or know forsure?

Message: If you added 1/3 to 1/2 Pint to your crankcase oil .. then your fine ..... if you put the whole can in.... your killing your engine ...

Message: Seems like there is a huge difference between letting it idle for 15 minutes and driving it for 300 miles. The driving would be the equivilent of idling for 20-30 hours.
There are a lot of crankcase cleaners out there and I don't believe that I have ever heard about any adverse effects from any of them. Bottom line is that you will be doing it at your own risk. I doubt that you would ever be able to collect any damages if it eventually harmed your engine.
