Subject: question about a 99 IP: Logged
Message: ok, it seems as if someone has tried to install power windows in my dakota before i got it, but the outlet for the crank is still in the freaking door. One of my power windows quit the other day, so i am trying to find a new window crank, to just open it manually, but i keep hitting dead ends. Is that because 99 dakotas come with factory power windows? or what . Like i said, all the mechanisms for power and manual windows are there, so i dont know why i cant find the freaking crank anywhere!!!!

I'm sure someone has cranks for yours. Try the
dealership. Also, is the crank handles shaft
still in place?

Message: yes shaft is still in place, i bought it used, and we dont have a dodge dealership here, however i did go to thier online site, and they only offer power windows parts. i went to almost every aftermarket part store i could think of, they say that most 99 dakotas had power windows, and that's why i can find manual parts. but what the real question is now is.. does anyone know if any other year models, and or dodge models can be used in place of 99 dakota parts. maybe like ram parts or something to that effect

Message: you should be able to use '97- '00 because in '01 they changed the interior. those aftermarket stores are feeding you a line of crap. have you tried www.car-part.com? check them out.

Message: Jess, I have an 88 and it has an allen screw that holds it on to the shaft. Have you tried a salvage yard? They may be able to help you out.
Good Luck
