Message: it's been beat to death on here in the past. would be nice tohave a "super truck". RC 5.7 or 6.1 hemi w/ 6 spd manual lowered 2 inches sport suspension.
IMO, there is enough competition out there for the RAM so it will never happen. especially with gas prices and the economy the way they are now.
maybe a factory S/C or turbo version of the H.O. 4.7. call it a Super H.O. somewhere around 400-425 hp. no need for a hemi with that engine.

Message: Yeah but the key is that dodge dropped the ball on this subject, thats the thing that irritates me the most, because the dakota would be very fast with just a stock 5.7 or the even more powerfull 6.1. Dodge just needs to listen to the people.

Message: if DC listened to the majority of the population, the engine and trannies would be sealed for life, no gages except for fuel so the majority of idiots on the road could put gas and drive and never have to check anything. why do you think they did away with all the grease zerks on the trucks?
hate to say it but DC is only worried about selling us trucks that THEY want us to buy jsut like every opther manufacturer. try to see if you can special order a truck today "exactly" the way you want it. i highly doubt it.
the auto industry has changed drastically over the last 30 years and it ain't necessarily for the better.

Message: I completly agree most people aren't smart enough to put gas in let alone know anything about the vehicle there driving. Dodge needs to just open there own message board to get the facts from real dakota owners like all of us on this sight.

Message: Forget about a Hemi guys... :(
We ought to be luckey the Dakota was not
dropped all together.
And besides, gas at 3 plus bux a gallon,
why on earth would you want such a gas hog
in the first place? The 4.7 eats enough as
it is. So does the 3.7 for that matter.

Message: For performance. Some of us feel the fuel economy of the 4.7 is reasonable for the truck's capabilities. I guess if you don't enjoy performance, you wouldn't understand.
Daddio hit the nail on the head about the grease zerks - manufacturers deleted them decades ago on many models to market sales based on longer service intervals.
