Recently I replaced the upper and lower ball joints on a 99 Dak 2WD. While I was down there I also replaced the bushings on the LWR Control Arm. They were a pain to get out but I don't think I did any damage to the Control Arm. So I took out the spring replaced the parts put it back together, now I have cupping on the drivers side front tire. I rotated the tires and the new tire is also cupping, there a loud Humm from that side also when I drive. I did not have it alligned after the work because it runs straight down the road. It's just that hummm and cupping. Anyone have any suggestion?? I'm about to move and I don't want anything to happen while I'm on the road. Any replies would be helpful. Thanks

Don,

I'm not a front end mechanis by trade, but I think it usually comes from underinflation (probably not the case), or alignment.

Not yet, but I've read post where people changed them out and I seen them online for sale. If I bought a Hub would the bearings come pressed in already? Would it be better ( or just cheaper ) to just change the bearings or the Hub assembly if that is the problem.

That depends on a couple of things,

1)whats the price diff. between a new hub and just changing the bearing?

2) do you feel the price diff. is worth your time it will take to change just the bearing?

personally, if i have acces to a press and can find the replacement bearings, i'd do it myself.

Alright thanks, I'll check with the shop to see if theres a press. Also, is that something that would have to be changed in a pair? Pass and Driver.

No, not necessarliy. but you can probably change bearings on both sides for the price of one hub.

there are other things that can cause the tires to cup, out of balance, loose or worn tie-rod, or steering idler arm, or other worn front suspension parts. Per repair manual. My guess is it needs to be aligned.
Good Luck
