I switched to a 31x10.5" a/t tire and definantly notice a difference in my 93 5.2 4x4 dakota. It doesnt have the get-up-and-go like it did with the 28" tires and I know that I need to change my gears. Also, I have been wondering if my speedometer has been thrown off at all? If so, how do I adjust it?

Hey Andrew, sounds like you and I are in the same boat my friend. I have a 1990 on 31'10's. From what I have found, the speedo is off for ex) speedo says 60, your really going about 70MPH). Speedo says 30, your going around 35MPH. Also, from what I have heard, 3.92 gears is the best for your application. I noticed a loss in HP after my new meats too, but I am working on my air/exhaust system to bring me back. Just some info, air intake system and cat. conv, muffler are restrictive. I would go with a K&N FIPK kit and a flowmaster exhaust, loose the Cat, or at least put in a high flow cat. Your power should be up alot and you should be able to feel it. BY the way, what lift did you use for your 31's. I have a 2wd and have a 3in body and 2in susp lift. Barely clear 31's. Sucks bad! Am looking into having custom 3in lift spindles made so I can run 33's! Good luck
Joe E.

On my 93 4x4 I didnt need a lift. The 31x10.5's fit with no problems at all. I still want a 2 or 3" body lift so I sit a bit higher.

Man you are so lucky. It took me 5in of lift and $900 bucks not including the cost of the 31's, to get up to this. I am really not happy with the modification abilities to Gen I 2wd. Its nearly impossible. Good luck with your truck though.

Thanks joe. I do still plan on getting a minor body lift and then my rig will look pretty sweet.
