Yesterday as I was starting my dak to drive home from work, my check engine light came on so i checked the codes. It came up with 12, and 41.
I looked them up but neither of those codes say that it would cause the check engine light to activate. So needless to say I am stumped, upset and confused.
My truck is a 1991 Dakota Sport. 318-V8. 4X4. Extended cab.
If anybody has any info that could help, please let me know!

Thanx, Caleb brown

A code 12 does not exist in the mitchell repair info. but I have one also. It has not seemd to cause any problems. A code 41 is described as alternator field not switching properly. Are you having any problems with your charging system?

You should have also gotten a code 55. this is the "end of codes" code. If you didnt get it you didnt pull all your codes

Code 12 is a 'normal' code. It won't cause the light on the dash to light up. IT's more of any FYI than anything. All it says is that the battery was disconnected.

Check the gas cap. The newer caps if bad or loose, will cause a check engine light and not go into the computer.
