First thing the engine needs to be cold.
On a flat road with few bumps, start to excellerate slowly, crossing over the 2400 rpm area. The speed should hesitate for a brief second and then continue to excellerate again. It would almost seem as if you had a miss or bad plug.

Test this for yourself and post your replies when it happens.

See my other posts about "V6 5 Spd stumbles and backfires" for more info.

I had some spare time today and tried your test. Unfortunately I was unable to duplicate your symptoms. This might be a good thing, though.

My Dakota's ignition has been upgraded consisting of a MSD 6A, Accel coil, Taylor plug wires, brass contact cap & rotor and Autolite 3923 spark plugs.

You might want to try changing your spark plugs (Autolites 3923 are like $0.90 apiece) and see if this helps. If it doesn't (or helps a little), you might want to consider upgrading your ignition. Other benefits to it are better mpg and power.

Chuck ........ see if you can tell as many people as you can about this test, and tell them to give it a try. It only seems to be the 2000 - 2001 V6's with a 5 speed.

Garth - Have you posted to the DML about this yet? I think I remember seeing something about it, but can't be sure. If you haven't let me know and I'll do some cutting & pasting and make a post to the DML.

Chuck ........ I can't do it from the computer that I am at right now, I don't have access to my email account. I don't think that I put it on to the DML list, if you could do this it would be great. I sure wish the DML list was as easy to use as this forum is. I wish they would give it some thought to switching to this type of system.

Chuck thanks for posting the info on the DML list. Now if more people would only take the test.

Just got done installing MSD6, 8.5 MSD wires, 3923 Autolites, and SS blaster coil. The first run threw town and my truck still stumbles at 2400 rpm when its cold once it warmed up it ran great.

Anybody have any more ideas

my suggestion is to let your engine warm up for a few minutes before you drive away.I do this every day and have never experienced the problem you speak of.The owners manual says to let the engine warm up.I'd hate to even imagine the problems associated with start-and-go engine abuse.Consider the fact that even a person does not just wake up and go full throttle. You have to "get going" first before you get going.Don't expect too much from a machine. As close as it(dak) is to perfect, there's no such thing
