Subject: Door Locks? Buzzing IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2000 Dak QC 4.7, I have a Problem with my Door Looks, just the rear ones, and both side do the same thing, if you lock the Doors everything is fine, but when you unlock the door, both rear Door Lock make a Loud Buzzing sound, which can be heard up to 25' away fromt the Truck, Has any one Experienced this Problem before, and what is causeing it? I prices now rear Locks and one side is 69.00 the other 105.00 and that was the @ the Dealer. Is it the Door Locks or Could it be a relay or something somewhere else on the Truck.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Message: the loud buzzing power door lock thing is a pretty well known problem. something with the actuator/gear/something in there eventually wearing out/breaking/something like that, till it starts the loud buzzing noise. I have a 2000 QC and both my front doors buzz like that. so far I haven't been stuck in/out of the truck, and I can live with the buzz.
those prices you mention, is that from the dealer to actually replace/fix whatever the problem is? that sounds pretty cheap. it also sounds pretty odd that they would have one priced at $69.00 and the other at $105. likely it's the same problem on both sides so seems like they should at least be priced the same. don't mean to sound so cynical, but I'd be a little suspect. sounds like the $69.00 would be little enough for you to take it in to take care of, then surprise, surprise, they find out it's something that's going to end up costing you around $250.00 per door to fix, which is the price I've been told.
Good luck...

Message: Thanks for the responce Rick!
I checked a few other boards and they both said the Same things about the rear Door Prices, very Odd, I had the Door lock out, and it is Built into the Whole Door Lock Assy.. all one piece. I was looking in a Junk Yard but am having a Hard time Finding a QC Dak, do you know if Rear Door Locks on a Durango are the Same as on a Rear QC Dak?

Message: We had a 01 Dakota and had to replace 5 door lock actuators, I have 2 friends with 02 Durangos and they've replaced 3 and 4 door actuators. But Dodge says "not a common problem" Best Idea Yet...undo the fuse and go back to using just the key. We decided to trade our Dakota in after the a/c fiasco but the fuse would surely save you lots and lots of money, time and headaches in the future.....

Message: Well, Sorry you had a problem Mary.
My current 01 QC SLT 4.7 Dak, ordered by me, sole owner, over 135,ooo miles,
And my electric door locks work just fine. Sometimes, it's nice to be a little lucky, sometimes.
