Message: I know that I have had a few posts about my tranny in the past, and this should be my final since I'm getting more and more worried about it.
I know Jet makes a tranny for our trucks, it runs around 2,400. But I just found on Jeg's website that TCI makes one. The Street fighter, but it's a 727 for SB Crysler. I know that the 727 was used on the 318 in the past(70's/early 80's), but will it bolt up to my 97 4x4? If it does, the tranny is only $739.00 plus shipping.
Any ideas. Right now I can afford the TCI, and next month the Jet, so I'm in debate.

Message: All i know is a TCI torque converter cracked in half in my camaro under wussy driving.
You should have seen it. All the fluid came pouring out and hit the headers and fill the streat with smoke. Every one in my car got out and ran for a mile.

Message: The 727 is a three speed and is not the same length as the 44re so you would have to make the front drive shaft shorter and the rear longer, more money to out put. Plus with the 727 you lose the O/D so gas mileage goes down as well. IT will bolt up though. Stick with the 44re. I would price around at local rebuild shops and see if they can beef up the one you have.
