Subject: Rear differential bearings IP: Logged
Message: I have the common symptoms of ABS and brake lights on, as well as the speedometer not reading until 30mph. Turns out the speed sensor on top of the rear differential had metal shavings on it, meaning a bearing is on its way out. Has anyone here removed the differential and replaced bearings? I have no idea where to start!

Message: The rears have a reputation for bad carrier bearings. Maybe you can catch it before it does too much damage ? Working on the diff requires patience and some specialized tools - might want to consider someone who specializes in this if you aren't familiar. Or if you think you might handle it, GraphiteDak did his and usually links his projects to great pics and writeups. Likely a link in his signature if you find any of his old posts, or maybe he'll reply.
