Message: I have over 135,000 miles on my 01 2wd Quad cab.
It gets inspected and driven during the inspection every year.
I have original brakes, rotors, pads, etc.
they still stop well, no noise, etc.

Message: Texas Todd
Thanks for the reply - maybe I don't need new brakes.
I don't have any indication that they need service.
I just thought 90K was unusual for original brakes

Message: It is unusual, for pour trucks, however,
If you don't wait until the last possible nano second to stop for things, like the average driver does, you put less wear on the brakes.
And if you keep the rear brakes in adjustment, (as in using your E-brake), then the fronts don't do nearly as much work.
I even look at my front brakes and spin the rotors by hand, every 5-7K miles when the wheels are off when they're balancing and rotating my tires.
Still plenty of pads left, and it spins w/o noise, etc. Amazing after 135,000 miles.
It seems that the average Dak owner, has their rotor turned or replaced, as soon as they feel anything in the pedal, etc.
There was an excellent link to a site that basically said rotors rarely ever warp, they just get uneven debris on them, causing the sensation in the pedal. MIne has done that, it alway goes away, w/o any servicing.
Here's one of my recent threads on this:

Message: it also helps when most of those miles are spent on the highway too.
i just changed the pads on my '00 QC a couple of months ago @ 76k. all i did was pop new pads on and "bed" them in. no "warping", pulsation and they stop great. @ 85k now i haven't even bothered to look at the rears yet.
Todd, i very rarely use my e brake and my rear drums are adjusted fine. every couple of weeks i just get a little speed in reverse and then get on the brakes hard. not hard enough to lock them up but hard.

I do the reverse thing to adjust the rear breaks also. But I don't do it fast nor do I hit the brakes hard - is that needed.

Message: dex, by "a little speed" i mean between 5-10mph. hit the brakes hard but not hard enough to loock the front wheels. if it's been a few months between adjustments, after you adjust them, you should notice at the first stop.
