Subject: Do inner tie rod ends come with bellows IP: Logged
Message: Hi guys,
It's about time I replaced the tie rod ends on my 95 2WD dakota (PS w/rack). I took a quick peek to see what I was in for and it appears that the bellows (boot) over the inners is banded to the rack and has an port running from left boot to right boot (perhaps for air?)
I didn't see how the band was to be removed except by cutting, so I'm wondering if the new parts will come with the bellows or if I may want to order a set just in case I mess up the old ones taking them off (165k new england miles on this thing).

Message: The band has to be cut off. The boots are sold seperatly. You can use a standard hose clamp or a couple of heavy duty tie wraps to put it back on.
I never replace inner tie rod ends. If the ends are worm out, so is the middle. I replace the whole steering rack, which will include the inner ends. It's more money, but less work and better results.
