Message: OK. Time for the winter tip of the day.
Don't put the window all the way up. Get it up into the channel, but not all the way. Then when it's "frozen", raise it the rest of the way before you put it down. Raising it that little bit breaks the grip of the ice between the window and the rubber strip on the outside of the door at the bottom of the window.
Try it. You'll see.

Message: pulled the door panel off this am....the cable is loose, there is a little white clip that is loose, does not look broken, went to the body shop and they told me $217 to change it out with a new one...seems a little steep to me, do i really need a regulator or can this one be fixed?? for $217 i can change it myself, i can figure just about anything out.

Message: I would just get a new one, i had to replace my drivers side window regulator last winter from the same thing you did, after i inspected the whole thing, window crank and all i found that the cable was all bound up inside of the casing and caused it to seize from trying to crank it down from the cold, also if that little white clip is the least bit broken then the cable has no way to move and will cause it to fail.

Message: Not exactly related to the problem you guys are seeing, but it is an issue with the windows:
On my 2000 Dakota, I had one of the little plastic wheels in the window regulator break in half. Here's how I dealt with it:
I drilled out the riveted hub that was left there after the plastic wheel broke away from it. I found a carriage bolt that was almost the right size for the track. I needed to machine down the OD of the carriage bolt, so I chucked it into a drill, turned on my angle grinder, and ground down the head of the bolt until it fit into the track with ease. I put the bolt into the hole and tightened a nut down to keep it there. I greased the track up and it now works better than it did when new. True, the bolt slides instead of rolling like the wheel did, but the motor doesn't seem to mind.
Just thought I would share in case anyone else has this problem.
