Message: While I wouldn't give up my 4.7 qc to get a few mpg's better, a buddy needs good mileage and he needs a good truck to haul his motorcycle around. No other heavy duty use. If you had to get a truck with good mileage/best power compromise, what would it be (it doesn't have to be Dodge)?
Thanks,
Mark

Message: My Dad bought a Nissan hardbody in 1986, has 200,000 miles, and it runs flawlessly. Just a little 4 cylinder, but that is probably all he needs. I would find a nice small sized truck, and a 4 cyl.

Message: If he's thinking about getting something new he should consider a Ranger with the 4 cyl. The engine is all new for this year, it is based on the Zetec from the Contour, only bigger. It is supposed to get very good gas milage and it has more power than most 4 bangers out there.

Message: Compare the Ranger 3L V6 and the 4L V6. Get one of those. Good price, decent power, decent reliability. My dad has one. I've hauled some heavy loads in that thing. It keeps going. Pretty comfortable too. Don't race in it, though.:-)
