The TRUE history of Christmas dates back over 4000 years. Many of your Christmas traditions were celebrated centuries before the so-called son of God, the Christ child, was born.
The 12 days of Christmas, the bright fires, the yule log, the giving of gifts, carnivals(parades) with floats, carolers who sing while going from house to house, the holiday feasts, and the processions can all be traced back ..... WAY BACK ..... to the many Winter Solstice and Pagan Festival Celebrations held in mid-winter across Europe.
The Christian "Christmas" celebration was ... INVENTED ..... yes invented ..... to compete against the many Winter Solstice and Pagan celebrations... in order to "PUT DOWN" the people and take over their celebrations.
The 25th of December was sacred to the Romans and the Persians whose religion Mithraism was one of Christianity's main rivals at that time ... so guess what ... in the 4th century the church picked December 25th as the birth date of Jesus ... how coincidental ?!?!?!?!?!
THE EVIL EMPIRE ... "The Church" .. was eventually successful in taking the merriment, lights, and gifts from the Winter Solstice and Pagan festivals and bring them to the celebration of Christmas.
If the Church can't kill us ... they steal from us.

In the thousands of years that humans have worshipped one god or another, there has never been even one tiny peice of indisputable evidence ever produced to back up any god's existance. If anyone could produce such evidence, it would be among history's greatest discoveries. If the god that's in current vogue existed, I believe he/she/it would be having regular press conferences, with mass media being what it is today. The basic purpose of organized religion is power. It's another way that the intelligent control the stupid and supersticious.

If you think the bible is the word of god you are mistaken. It is the word of men.
The bible is very contradictory. It was written by many men during different times.
The only thing that the bible PROVES, is that someone printed a book. I guess, according to christian logic, if you read “ The Night Before Christmas”, that PROVES that Santa Claus exists.
The first book of the New Testament wasn’t even written until 30 to 40 years after the death of Jesus and the last three were much later than that. The identities of the authors of these books are still in dispute by biblical scholars.
Incidentally, there has never been found any mention of the name Jesus in any documents that were written in the years that he was alive. Here is a man that could, allegedly, walk on water, restore the sight of the blind, and even raise people from the dead. Yet, nobody thought that these deeds were important enough to record until, at least, 30 years after the “fact”.
If I were the Roman Emperor, who controlled that area of the world in those days, I think that I’d want someone who could raise the dead, living at the palace in Rome.
Anyway, to make a long story as short as possible, the bible PROVES nothing!

Actually, through modern medicine there is evidence of an afterlife. Many people have "died" and been revived in the hospital and tell stories of "seeing the light." The stories are consistent with each other and some have told their experience before the knew they had "died" and been revived. My brother is an anesthesiologist, was in Iraq and saw this happen personally. People, this is something you should take seriously. Be good to others because you never know.

Yes there is. there always has been. the proof is that creation exists.
Can you prove God doesn't exist any more than proof it does?
Face it, none of us know where we are, where it came from, what life is, and what other ingredients the universe is made of that our 5 senses can't percieve. Things that are in addition to matter and energy.
We are just breifly able to observe this 'place' where we are floating in the middle of infinity in every direction.
To say whether or not we know if there is a God is playing God ourselves.
God is whatever created all this, whatever this is, and whatever the creator of this place is, and however infinite in size this place is, whether God is an intelligent being or just this place itself, there is something that fits the decription of what is responsible for the universe and beyond for that matter, existing.
The universe is one big paradox. There is no differentiation between good and bad, however, with regards to life there is.
Good supports the continued existance of life and Bad impedes the continued existance of life.
We exist so there is a reason we exist so doing good is what we want if survival is what we want.
Doing bad is literally a death wish.
Pain is a physiological function, but why don't we want it? Why do we have self worth? There is a reason and it explains who we are, though without PROOF of why we are, we still want to be for some reason.
Trust your instincts. There is something behind all this.

Wasn't defending any religion in particular.
They all see the same thing but from different vantage points.
I was just talking about life and the universe, and how none of us really knows what it is, and we should be less ccky about it and admit we don't know.
Godd and Evil.
There is a built in mechanism to the design of life- whatever created it, that evil is self-exterminating.
Otherwise all life on earth would have died off millions of years ago.
It is a self-cleaning function of the biosphere.
Don't you worry, all the derranged whackoes running around robbing everyone derranged with greed will destroy themselves and the good people will stay out of it and survive, and die a dignified noble timely death after living a full productive life. The evil that is hurting everyone and stealing from everyone will die disgracefuly and painfully by their own device. Don't forget the ultimate symbol of what is coming on the large scale- 9/11.
Evil wipes itself out. Good people have better luck.
The 10 commandments and the message of Jesus is just some wise men seeing the mechanism of evil and it's self destruction design, and defined to people the 'don't do's'. If everyone goes evil, everyone will be self-exterminated per natures law and design, hense the book of revalation. Greed and evil doesn't work, no matter how many times you try.
