Subject: Malfunctioning Heater Blower
IP: Logged

Message:
A short time ago I noticed a strange smell coming out of my vents whenever I ran my climate control at high speeds. The smell was close to a burning rubber/overheating plastic odor. The smell was faint at first but gradually became more and more apparent. Finally about a week ago, it was on a cold morning, I was running my heater on the highest setting when smoke poured out of my vents. Choking and gagging on the thick burning smoke smell, I turned off the heater. Long story short (too late I know) the blower motor is drawing 2 or 3 times more current than it should. Only on the highest speed setting this happens, and it blows fuses when its run for too long. Anyone else have this problem? I have a 97 Dakota Extended 4x4 SLT.
