Subject: Serv. 4wd light and Ck Eng. Lgt On?

First of all my trucks crazy. Okay my check engine light has been on since i bought the truck. A couple months ago my service 4wd light has been coming on and my speedo has been jumping, and alot of the time just dropping to zero. Sometimes when my speedo drops to zero it causes my truck to idle lower and will actually stall out when slowing down at a stop light or turn. Any ideas? I have already replaced the computer and the speed sensor. So i know those arent the culprits.

It would be helpful to know more details about the truck (year, motor) and whether you checked to see what codes are causing the mil to come on.

Sorry, the trucks a 2001, 4.7 liter, 4wd, automatic. I got my truck checked out my friends dad which is a mechanic and he said i needed to make sure i tightened my gas cap. Thats the only code that came up. He cleared it out and within a half hour it came back up. I know i tighten my gas cap so thats probably not it. Althought i have read where some gas caps are loose and need replaced. That might turn my check eng. light off. But i doubt the gas cap will cause my speedo to go crazy? Feel like im against a brick wall.

That could be a bad gas cap like he told you, or a crack in a rubber line connecting the charcoal cannister. Which speed sensor did you replace, the one in the rear end ? You can check for codes yourself - turn key on off on off on to set codes in the odometer; ending with "pdone".
