Well, since they're Dodge vehicles, they MAY be hybrid, but they WILL be ugly.

not sure about the ugly part.

but... i do agree, hybrids are qiute expensive. and you do get a snobby "im saving the planet" attitude with every purchase. lol

(im all for saving the planet, but geeze! i just want to kick those people in the ass sometimes.)

Oh yeah. Ugly. And what happens to all those batteries as the hybrid approaches 100K miles and they need to be replaced?

That would be my questions, what is the battery life and what kind of warranty would they have? Is that considered part of the drive train? will it be a separate item?

I think a friend once told me that her accord hybrid has 8 year warranty on the batteries.

some manufactures have warrany on the batteries. and some dont. but i do know that a batterie pack for a prius is supposed to last 7-10 years and if you were to buy one your looking roughly 5k range.

and just like old batteries they get recycled and properly disposed.

Anything that lessens our dependence on foreign oil is a good thing. I would much rather have to worry about how to recycle batteries than continue shipping our national treasure over to people who use the money to make the bombs that blow up our troops.

I say bring it all on; biodiesel, ethanol, hybrids. I don't give a rats ass about the planet. It will kill us off when the time is right. I care about my hard earned money being used to wipe out the men and women fighting the Cheyney/Bush oil war. Nuke the fukkin place already and give the keys to my Prius.

I dont like to be dependent on anyone...but the ecological cost associated with mining all of the materials for those batteries, makes hybrids much worse for the planet by far... kind of funny actually when you see snobs driving them and they actually are more harmful to the planet than a family driving a 94 suburban. When asked about this fact, at first it was denied and then later it was stated that over time as technology develops, the batteries will last longer and reduce waste/energy and we have to have a starting place.

I'll bet ANYONE that Chrysler WILL NOT put a
"Life Time" power train warrenty on any of them
either!

I agree with Chucky also... What do we do with
the dead battery system and what is the cost to
replace them? More than the car will be worth at
100k I'm sure...

thats interesting mccamp. ive never thought of it that way. there is a lot that goes into the battery. and who knows what it takes to make all that crap.

like i stated earlier radioman. the batteries will run you a few grand. they also get properly recycled like any other battery. there is a waste process. now, i dont know the chemistry though.
