Park mechanism is purely mechanical, not electrical at all.

this recall should be in your dealers system by now. I stopped by dealer and picked up a new PCV value for my 02. I asked about the recall, they looked up by VIN and found it dated on the 20th.
The dealer had parts in stock to correct this, I scheduled an appointment for next thursday.
