Fully loaded, custom ordered. I might trade it for a 02 Dak 2WD RC 4.7L. I think I want to go faster.

Message: I was looking for a Gen II Dak with a V-8 for under 15000 (can) when I really couldn't find a Truck I wanted over the span of about 5 months I gave in and figured I'd go to the dealer. Got the spec. sheets and started adding only the stuff I wanted to go fast.
2000 RC Sport
4.7l
5 spd
3.92 SG
The lowest I could get it at the dealership for, was well over 22,000. So I went back to the classified's and started looking for Gen III's between 15,000 and 20,000 and I found my truck in Windsor ON (good Mopar town) for 16,999 (can) before taxes, it was a lease buyout.
I had to settle for,
1998 RC Sport (now ACR)
5.2l
5 spd
3.92 SG
Not bad but the KM's were a little high, which I figured would be no prob as I would be driving the Dart in the Summer months. I haven't had the Dart on the Road for longer than 2 days since I got the Dak. almost 2 yrs. ago.
Stay sane,
Stay strong!

Message: I had a 2001 RC R/T on order with A/C, slider, max cooling and mats as the only options for $18,030 out the door, after rebates, including tax title and tags. (actually there is no tax here!) There were $2000 rebates in effect and I also got the $400 farm rebate. It ended up getting delayed and couldn't be built as a 2001, they said I could have the same price but not the same rebate (they wouldn't guarentee anything but the $400) so I said just cancel it. I found a lightly used 2000 R/T with similar options the next week for $17,000 so I took it. If it wasn't a yellow one I probably would have just waited for the rebates to come back to $2000 on the 2002's. After learing more about the lack of aftermarket on the 2001's and 2002's I'm glad I have the 2000. It should do just fine until those 5.7 hemi's get here!

Message: I did a lot of shopping around before I bought my and I found out that "dealer invoice" and sticker vary wildly from state to state so comparing East to West isn't going to give a fair estimate.
I bought my CC 4x4 off the dealer lot in May for $26,500 taxes and license included w/$2000 cash back. Sticker was 24,710.
SLT Plus package - Tire/handling, 2 tone paint, 40/20/40 split bench w/cloth interior, AM/FM cassette, rear window slider, pwr mirrors w/heat and pwr windows, door locks, cruise, remote keyless entry.
Towing package w/heavy duty engine cooling and aux. tranny cooler but only 1450 cargo capacity.
Linex spray-on bedliner
Lifetime oil changes by dealer
DC extended warranty
Warranty work to date:
900 miles - oil send unit replaced
4050 miles - box realigned and front transfer case seal replaced
Tires rotated at friendly Goodyear store same time
2 oil changes so far.
3500 miles - front windshield replaced. Caught a large rock. Luckily it hit the passenger front wheel well spat first and bounced into the windshield or I'd be dead!
I love this truck, it's fast, carries and pulls a ton without turning into a complete kidney killer. And it looks fantastic!
Seats are comfortable on long drives and everywhere we need to go is at least a 45 minutes trip one way.
Gripes/complaints:
Build quality not bad but....
what's up with all the misaligned boxes? I see 'em all the time but obviously either the owners don't care or they haven't noticed.
Transmission - this is not going to last past 50,000 miles. Already getting serious "clunking" going on during "normal" takeoff from stop plus it's starting to "hunt" in 2nd and 3rd even with O/D off in city driving.
Interior needs re-engineering, the center drink holder tray is too far under the dash and the ashtray lighter is way too far left for the driver...did they think when they put this in?
Purchased at Enumclaw Chrysler. These guys rock for after sales service. I have never had to do a second trip after a repair and it's always ready on time when I pick it up.
Ken Grierson
P.S. - My last boss at work has a 2000 Nissan Crew Cab.
It's a piece of SH**T compared to the DAK...underpowered, noiser ride and tiny. He says he's carried 4 adult comfortably in it....I'd like to know if the shoe horn he used to get them in is standard equipment!

.......Ken I don't want to bust on you, but to anyone out there thinking about that additional warranty-Don't! Your sales person will push, the sales manager will push, the finance guy will push! Why? Cuz its 75% commission! If you do the math on the 2 to 5000 dollar package that they sell and factor in that you won't even use it untill the 3600/3yr warranty expires. If you finance it your paying intrest on that for 3-5 years for something that you may never use. If you don't beleive me fine. Consumor reports did a nice job of 'splainin' the whole deal. Jeez 2-5 grand! Can you say Kenne-Bell!

It was just the tenacity with which they tried to sell me the warranty. I used to work for a finance company and we used to sell these extended warranties to used care lots. I could only work there for two months before I just couldn't live with myself.
I found a website http://www.carbuyingtips.com it does a pretty good job of schooling you on the whole proccess, including extended warranties, financing, setting the price-the WHOLE enchilada! You gotta understand that before I signed on the dotted line I had to sell the whole deal to my missus she's a doctor AND a lawyer so bull$itting her is outta the question-and in the end it paid off.

Message: Hey Doc, relax, I appreciate the info about the extended warranties.
If I could I would take it off the truck and repurchase it at about the 35th month but I bet the dealership would scream like demons and give me dozens of reasons not to do that. I think I'd better go read the teeny tiny fine print on the extended warranty again and see if I could drop it and then put it back on just before the basic runs out.
Cheers!
Ken Grierson
P.S. - I spent 2 months querying dealers on financing, service, factory ordering and price. Enumclaw Chrysler ended up being my choice for 3 major reasons:
1. No sales calls every other day!
2. Willing to work with me every step of the process and reponsive within 1 business day to any question I had about Dak's.
3. They actually dealt with me on invoice price whereas all but 1 other dealer would only work off the vehicle sticker price.

I looked at a Chev 6 months before I bought this Dak and the exclusions in their extended warranties meant I would have been paying a ton of $$'s for a fraction of the coverage I have now.

The 25c quick order package gave me a 4.7 v8 with manual trans, Tire and Handling pkg, Deluxe Conveniece Grp,Power Convenience Grp, Sport Plus Grp, the light grp is part of one of those...I added to all that the leather wrapped steering wheel, anti-spin diff., four wheel abs, dark slate grey high back bucket seats and the AM/FM Cassette W/ compact disc. It's all done up in patriot blue pearlcoat. The truck arrived two days earlier than their earliest prediction. Everything was as ordered. Everything works great. Also, as reported in the paint posting and similar to another 2002 owner, the paint is excellent. I've had it five days and I'm almost done with the break-in mileage. I'm a happy guy.
