Subject: Break caliper hanger?

Message:
Well, I had a clunking noise in the front end while breaking, with noticeable feel in break pedal. This was a while ago.

Brought it into local shop. Told me that the break caliper hanger wears that the caliper is riding on, and can sometimes fall into the wear groove, giving the clunk and feel in pedal. Passed inspection anyways and told does not interfere with breaking. Told them it was anoying as all hell, they "welded" the hanger, to fill in the wear.

Now less than 10K later, same thing. Question is, can I have the caliper hanger replaced? Anyone else have this issue and successfully get rid of the PITA clunking in the front while breaking? HOw much am I looking at to fix this thing for good?

there are shims that you actually put on the brake pad. its a hardware kit that you can get for a couple bucks at the part store that will fix the prob.

ive done this dozens of times in my shop. its a real common problem.
