Subject: clicking sound- bad selanoid? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 00 slt 4.7l 4x4...the power locks were locking and unlocking on their own. I unplugged them within the door. It seems i have a clicking sounds (like an electrical selanoid) coming form the passangers side kick panel. Just ranomd ly on an doff..sometime making rapid noise like a machine gun. My dome light started coming and on off with no reason. I had to pull the fuse (now no radio, int lights, etc).....and this clicking is worse than ever before.
I did have the "wet carpet phenomenon" but resealed the windshield and that is gone (lord know what got wet though)..
Any help woudl be greatly appreciated.

Message: Sounds like the door lock relays or the keyless entry system got wet or has some other kind of problem. Remove the kick panel and locate where the clicking is coming from. Maybe you will be able to tell what's wrong that way.

Message: turned out it was a box to the right of the glove compartment...it stops clicking when i unhook the green wiring loom...i think it has something to do with teh autodimming feature of the dome light....

Message: May be a timer module of some sort. Probably pretty cheap from a junk yard if you can find one. If you unplug it does the door lock chattering go away and/or do the locks and dome light still work? The parts counter at the Dodge dealer might be able to give a better identification on the box and what it really controls.
