Subject: Power Window parts question
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 98 dakota that has been a work horse for the past 5 years. Recently the power windows have been jumping track. when I ripped in to the door to find out why I found what looks to be plastic bushings that I believe go in the track at the bottom of the window to keep the nipples of the scissors attached to the track. They where plastic and apear to have cracked. Question I have is where do you go to buy replacement parts for the window. I cant see having to buy the entire power window assembly to replace 4 plastic bushings.

Welcome to my world.

Unfortunately replacing the whole assembly appears to be exactly what you need to do. I have had no luck finding those part and trying to "pop" them off a junkyard door only breaks them too.

I spent the money for a replacement assembly and a manual assembly showed up instead of the power that I ordered. I called them to find out what happened and they stated they were out of the power and are not sure why the manual was sent and that if I returned it ($19 something shipping) they would refund my money (excluding the $19 something I originally paid in shipping). Needless to say I still have that manual assembly sitting in my garage.

I have examined every way possible to get those rollers off and short of simply cutting the arms and welding them in place on mine, I give up on figuring out a way.

I can't use the manual unless I want to either leave my door panel off or cut a hole in it (thats not happening).
