would like to put some fogs on my dak was wonderin if anyone knows of any that would fit nicely into stock holes mine didnt come with em so the wholes are still closed so i guess i could put any size ones in there just wonderin if anyones done this and what they used i cant see spendin what they want for the factory replacements thanks

Mine came with fog lights. The factory switch is on the headlight/parking light switch. With the headlights or parking lights on, pull the switch out for the foglights. Also, the foglights will automatically go off when the brights are engaged.

Mine came with both fog lights and driving lights. The driving and fog lights have rocker switches mounted on the left side cover for under the dash. The driving lights work on dim but automatically turn off when the brights are on. The fog lights were mmounted on a in the bed "roll bar" and were used for off-roading.
When I got the p/u it had nither, but the original wiring was there. Still would like to find the bed roll bar assembly. I've only seen 1 P/U in Joplin Mo. with one. They look great!!
Oh yeah the light are mounted in the front cowling and the ones I got use 1/2 in holes.

saray245se, my 02 didn't come with any fog lights
so the holes were never opened and no *special*
headlight switch or wiring.
Just buy a nice round fog light kit you like.
Make sure the lights are no larger than the hole
you want to "hole saw" open.
You'll have to engineer the brackets that come
with your new lights to bolt to the frame and
add washers or other means to get the lights to
the center of the holes.
The "kit" should come with a switch and wire
plus directions for wiring if you need it.
I would suggest using a hole saw in your drill.
I believe you can use up to 4". Measure how big
to can open it up before you buy anything...
It's not a hard job...

thanks radioman i know its not a hard job to put aftermarket light in done it like a hundred times...was lookin to make it look factory as possible so will be lookin for a dak in the junkyard for the switch and lights or goin to the stealership for just the switch and usin whatever lights i like but thanks all info helps in one way or the other

The factory fogs were somewhat junk anyway.. I
heard water would get into or behind the bulb
housing and rot the units out..
BTW, when I got my kit I replaced the 55 watt
lamps with 100 watters. WOW, talk about lighting
up the roadway! Mine are TRUE fog lights also.
Yellow fog lights, not white driving lights.
If aimed right (like I did) the 200 watts don't
bother uncoming traffic either. I never get the
bright lights at me...

I have a quad cab 01 Dak that came with factory fogs. They were OK but I like yellow fogs a lot better so I got a set and mounted them in the grill opening. I used the factory plugs with some new wire, and took out the factory fogs and got some 3" projector beam driving lights and mounted them in the stock holes. This worked out well, but there are a couple of things you should pay attention to.
First, unless you have to make it look like a factory job, I would not go to the trouble of getting the factory pull out style switch for the fogs. There is no guarantee that the wires you need are in your harness, and if they are not this will be a royal pain to work with since almost no slack is left in today's harnesses.
Second, the chances of hosing something while using the factory harness are fairly good, given the tightness of things.
Third, and most important. USE A RELAY!!! People, probably even on this forum will blow this off as totally unnecessary. Do not believe them. They aren't the ones that came back to their '56 Chevy coupe with the interior and dash in flames. That was me and it was caused by running primary wires to the interior without using a Bosch style relay.
Fourth, and almost as important. Throw away the cheap wire, and get some 12 or 14 AWG, preferably 12. Again people will blow this off as unnecessary. It is not. If there is a problem big wire can usually handle it while 16 or 18 can't. You are better off using the stuff from Advance or Autozone here as the Home Depot stuff will work, but is not really meant for automotive use.
Fifth, get a cheap fuse block and mount it under the hood and fuse the relay ground.
You can find easy to use wiring diagrams on line for all of this. The thing I hate the most is poking a hole in the firewall. Also the cheap switches that come with most fog light kits usually have a light in them that is much too bright so switching to a good toggle switch is usually a good idea. If a little yellow sun under the dash is not your idea of cool. Good Luck.

HCW, you're 100 and 1 percent correct! The only
way to go is with a relay system. I wired mine to
open the relay coils with the key off. That makes
sure I don't run the battery dead if I forget to
switch the lights off.
The best wire I have ever found is "Machine Tool"
TW. Hard to find for some reason...

I just got the fog light kit from the dealer, came with a switch and wiring. It connects to the stock wiring so the fog lights can only come on when the parking or regular lights are on. I took off a cap for a hole meant for an "auxiliary power" connector in my dash and put the switch there.
