Subject: Flaps on fan shroud IP: Logged
Message: I have a 89 v6 Dak. There are 3 flaps that cover 3 different sized holes on the drivers side of the fan shroud. What are they for and can you remove them for better air flow through the ratiator. Fevertree1

Message: Those flaps are there to maximize engine fan air flow at slow speeds. At higher speeds, the flaps should be pushed open the the force of the air moving through the fins. The flaps were eliminated in the early 90s and are not really necessary. They were replaced with a solid shroud.
Mine have been missing for years. I think they got knocked loose while off-roading.
