i changed the transmission fluid and filter last weekend and now it acts sluggish getting out of first and back in. its a 3.9 v6 auto 2001. i had it flushed at 38,000 miles and it now has 80,000. it shifts fine once its going 5mph +.
the o-ring gasket on the filter was a little off center but only a few mm's. any suggestions?

Put the o-ring on center. Make sure you used ATF+4 fluid only.

mike m, you might as well burn that $500-$600
you're about to give that so
called; "transmission specialist"

He's guessing that is the problem or you would
not have also added "as long as nothing else is
bad". My bet is, you'll end up spending at
LEAST double and STILL have problems less than
a week later.

THERE IS NO ONE OUT THERE THAT KNOWS ANYTHING
ABOUT TRANSMISSIONS!! PERIOD!!

Use your hard earned money for your trade in.

What are the odds that your valve body died because you changed fluid and filter.

Open it back up and check vary carefully to make sure everything is in exactly the right place, and it's all torqued correctly. Re-adjust the bands again, make sure you did it right.

If you still have the problem, take it to a differant transmission shop for a differant analysis. The one you talked to isn't a repair shop, it's a parts replacement shop.

well i dont know about what radioman said about "NOBODY know anything about trans"

but i do agree with bob, if this problem didnt happen untill you changed the fluid, and you know that the o ring is of center, then its no question that thats where you should start.
