I took another look at the Dodge website and the Viper now has 600 HP? But has less toruqe than HP?

Thats don't sound like a Mopar motor to me!!

Be cool to see a SRT/10 Dakota LOL.

Ya those two (.)(.) . You guys are killing me got my fingers crossed for geting mine on the water this week end.
I put a nice big ring on my girlfriends hand. Married her had two great kids. After seven years she leaves me for some ditch-digger............


So I went out and replaced her with a 357-SR1 boat and named it the Wimpy Sailor dam good trade.

I read an article in Motor Trend about the new Viper a few months back. Pretty much, Dodge is using a system similar to VTECH, where the cam profile will change when asked to perform harder. Some say like a Ferrari, I say like a HONDA! Gas milage will also improve, since less fuel is used at idle and low revs. The bad part (or good because of less gas)....its pretty much a 300 hp car until you step on it and the "VTECH" kicks in.

VTEC has multiple camshaft profiles for gas mileage and for
high rpm. The camshaft actually has two separate lobes that
can actuate the valve.

Ferrari has one lobe for each valve. The lobe is a little longer
than a normal lobe would be and it is cut at an angle. Low rpm
on one side and high rpm at the other. The computer tells the
engine to slide the cam inside the block so the lifter switches
from contacting the low rpm part of the lobe to the high rpm
part or vice versa.

Otherwise they are basically the same technology. So the
question remains, how did mopar do it with the viper?

I read an article in one of the car magazines. The have a cam inside a cam design. I'm not sure of all the details. I believe it was the latest issue of Motor Trend.
