Message: I think the new dakota will be the same level of "goodness" as previous generations, it's about the eye candy so to speak.
What Chrysler needs to do is set the dakota apart from the Ram. i think they've done an ok job setting it apart from other midsizes.
to have a successful product you need to make people want it. There is no overly attractive feature for buyers (so what if it has a v8 with today's gas prices). Now if they tossed the hemi in there, that would be attractive to buyers. Bring back the R/T and make it a real R/T . Get some of the vendors to make speciality aftermarket parts (possibly sold/installed by the dealer)
They need to make the Dakota the Wrangler of Dodge.

Message: Ya change the looks and go back to a more realistic looking truck rather then the 2005 crap. And put a smaller turbo diesel under the hood and i would look at getting another one.

Message: i haven't seen the '08's yet but they're supposedly an improvement in looks. and yes, as mentioned earlier, a nice little turbo diesel. 4 banger or v6 diesel would do it. i believe no other midsize truck offers a diesel.

Message: I can't imagine paying 32,000 like a co-worker did for his 2007 Dakota, oh yeah, all the bells and whistles. But really, it's not mid size anymore, and the bed, what bed? It's all cab and comfort just as in a full size but only you have a bed, So heck, why not spend a few more and buy a full size and get a bed to go with it. Do away with the 4 door cabs, get the cabs back to the basics, Nice buckets and center console, good feeling dash. Put something under the hood for fuel economy to power. Where the heck is the HEMI R/T?
The look, well that has much to be desired, as well as the new Durango's. I mean the nice round corners in the front for fuel economy and looks. Why square it off in the front and round the back? What purpose does that serve? Heck let's go back 15 years and make it all square. No sense in a rounding off the back with a big ole billboard in the front.
As for aftermarket products, I think dodge has alway's been behind in that area, doesn't matter what version of a Dodge product you own there. I just hate to see it go away, they started something good, and they ruined it. Trying to make it more than it ever could be. A full size truck. They forgot what MID-SIZE means.
